The Filet mignon was always  trimmed very well only at this particular Sam's Club where I shopped. Any of the meat I bought from this (Matthews) warehouse doesn't fail to satisfy. I have been shopping in this warehouse for the  meat. Consistently of great quality especially the way the meat are trimmed. In this location the butchers are doing a great job! Please keep up the good work.

Great Cut

These steaks were amazing. My husband grilled them and they were tender and flavorful. Definitely a cut above the ones we have had at the local steakhouse. Look for a package with even marbling of the fat. We will definitely purchase again!

Awesome steaks

The steaks are good quality and tasty.  My “beef” is the packaging.   There are never the same size of steaks in a pack.  Having a dinner party for for and I got 2 ea 12-14 ounces and 2 ea 6 ounce steaks.  They seem to get into a bit of a hurry and don’t put similar looking steaks into a package.

slightly more fat than the higher quality filet, but absolutely great flavor and tenderness. highly recommended.  price of beef is really off the charts right now, though.  eating this well gets very expensive really quick.

Fine quality but high price

I've purchased this a few times now and it's about 50/50. if I am having to cut off a couple pounds of white hard stuff @ $65-$70 and then encounter a vein of white hard stuff running through the middle of the filet, why am I paying the premium price?

They were okay, just a couple of minor things.  One of the steaks had a little gristle on it, and i wish the steaks in the packages were more uniform in size. In this package, one steak (hiding under the price sticker, of course) was substantially smaller than the other 3... and it just happened that that was the gristly one, too. Generally speaking, though, they were fine.

Just fine.

We purchase filet mignon/tenderloin regularly and over the past several months the quality has been terrible.  You should not have to trim 1/2 lb of fat/lining off of an approx 2 lb pkg at 23.98 lb, and this has become the norm.  This type of steak is supposed to be already trimmed out, unlike ribeye which always has fat and why I don't buy it.

Filet mignon/tenderloin poor quality

Very low quality cut with a lot of fat and silver skin  that required a lot of trimming. Some of the hard fat was in the middle and could not be trimmed. Sadly those trimmings are included in the price.  Sam's butchers must me giving the better pieces to local restaurants.

$75.00…The front of the package looked perfect. But when I took the fillets out and flipped them over, they were full of fat. i trimmed it all off & I will be returning the bag of fat that I have, which is equal to at least one fillet. Disgusting practice I did write to the company about it, but I have not received any correspondence yet.

FULL OF FAT

I bought this package with 4 Filets in it.  I cooked 1 and became quite ill.  Not 100% sure it was the steak, but based on my typical lifestyle, (never eat out), it was suspect.  Froze the remainder of package. Would have returned it but can't locate the receipt.
